The Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPLeiria) began its activity in 1980 and is present in the Leiria and West region through its five schools, located in the cities of Leiria (School of Education and Social Sciences, School of Technology and Management and School of Health Sciences), Caldas da Rainha (School of Fine Art and Design) and Peniche (School of Tourism and Maritime Technology).
IPLeiria has programmes in the areas of: Art and Design, Entrepreneurial and Juridical Sciences, Education and Communication, Engineering and Technology, Tourism and Health.
Polytechnic of Leiria has affirmed itself in the last years as an Institution focused on research, development and innovation (R&D+i), having as its identity brand an R&D+i Ecosystem primarily oriented to the economic and social fabric of the region where it is inserted, but always centered on the global, broader scope inherent to any R&D+I effort.

IPLeiria has seven student residences in the cities of Leiria, Caldas da Rainha and Peniche. Any student can be lodged in the residences, although they are destined, preferably, to the scholarship students of IPLeiria’s Social Services. According to your profile and budget you have also available, private rooms and hostels.
You have free WI-FI in all campuses, residence halls, canteens and other IPLeiria spaces.
IPLeiria Student Support Services are committed to provide the institute academic community with conditions that ensure their well-being physically and psychologically, therefore they offer reduced costs, support in specific areas such as diagnosis and prevention, as well as psycho pedagogical counseling.
The Polytechnic of Leiria gives the students the opportunity to practice a wide range of sports through the sport sector of the Student Support Services.
This sector is organized in 2 areas Leisure and Competition. In this last area the IPLeiria normally attend National Higher Education Championships organized by the Academic Federation of University Sports- in Portuguese known as FADU.

In 2012 the university was not ready to take care about international students, just few professors were friendly and ready to help, others were not very happy that I chose Portugal when I didn't speak portuguese. But some proffesors were very nice and helped a lot.
Ask before for the courses and asked every teacher if you can participated on it.
