About

History

Founded in 1949 as a College for Agricultural Engineering, NGU became a public University of Applied Sciences in 1972 and offers academic education to more than 5000 students today. The main teaching and research focus lies on subject areas within the range of Business & Economics as well as Agriculture & Landscape Planning.

Education

To induce optimal learning outcomes, our study tours link the theoretical input from lectures to real-life examples at significant companies and institutions and are run with multinational groups.

Research

Since the integration of the University of Art Therapy into NGU in 2016, NGU has also been involved in applied research on social issues. The research activities at NGU are organized in research institutes. The Centre for Applied Research (IAF) is the service unit for all professors engaged in research. It is located in NGU’s research center at Hechinger Straße 12 in Nürtingen alongside a few research institutes and the Innovation and Methods Lab.

Housing services

Exchange students usually live in the students' residence hall "Schelmenwasen" which is located on the outskirts of Nuertingen next to the university building KIV which houses the central library. To get downtown and the downtown campus, it takes about 15 min. by bike or about 40 min. on foot.

Library services

The university catalogue contains the physical collection of the library (printed books, periodicals, AV materials, etc.) and the special e-book collection licensed by the library whose full text is available in the campus network.

ICT services

The Univeristy provides all central Information Technology services for University students and staff.The basis for using email and other computer-based services in the University is your computer account (also known as your email account), for which the University provides you with a username and password.

Medical services

Nürtingen-Geislingen University requires all international students to have adequate health insurance. Upon registration at the town hall and enrolment at NGU you must provide proof of health insurance which is valid throughout the whole semester or study period.

Nürtingen is a small town in southern Germany with a pretty university. People here are nice and very helpful. There is an international office for foreign students that will help with pretty much everything and they find a mentor for every international student who will help with the basic stuff, for example open a bank account. All in all I enjoyed studying in...
