The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya officially began its academic activities in October 1997. Organic Law 11/1983 on University Reform, (LRU) along with the 26/1984 Parliament of Catalonia Law, established the appropriate legal framework for the establishment of a university with the capacity to award official degree certificates.
Here you will find 16 degree programmes, dual degree international programmes and a wide range of master's and postgraduate degrees, in addition to continuing education courses in the field of your choice.
UIC Barcelona, as an organisation dedicated to research and knowledge transfer, is involved in the task of seeking out, disseminating and applying ethical alternatives to the socio-economic and environmental challenges faced by today’s society. It is within this framework that UIC Barcelona is establishing a series of objectives to promote sustainability throughout the entire University Community, in the areas of Organization, Teaching and Research and Environmental Management.
UIC Barcelona, as well as offering a good level of knowledge and university education, would like to provide a tool which facilitates incorporation into the labour market and/or access to other job opportunities for students.

Studying second-year Medicine at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) has been a truly enriching experience. From the very first day, I would highlight the great atmosphere among students: there are classmates from Barcelona as well as from many other cities, all very kind and always willing to help, which creates a friendly and collaborative environment. The organization of the schedule is also remarkable. Theoretical classes take place in the afternoon, usually for about four hours, while practical sessions, held on some mornings, complement the learning experience. This structure allows students to have enough time to study and stay well organized. The professors teach with great professionalism and clarity, and the students have also created a notes committee that provides quality study materials for most subjects, which is very useful for everyday learning. Another very positive aspect is the mentorship program, which assigns each new student a mentor from a higher year. Thanks to this system, adapting to the university becomes much easier, as the mentor offers guidance, shares useful information, and helps new students integrate smoothly. Finally, the campus facilities are excellent, especially for Medicine students. The university is equipped with modern materials and simulation mannequins, allowing students to gain hands-on experience from the very first years. Overall, studying at UIC Sant Cugat combines solid education, a great atmosphere, and excellent academic resources.
In the 5 year architecture course you will go through a lot. The teachers are prepared and will teach you things that even if in that moment don�t seem important or interesting will end up being very enriching personally and professionally. The university in itself is small but well prepared.
My experience at the University of Barcelona has its pros and cons. Academically and in terms of prestige, it's good, and there are some truly worthwhile professors, although some courses have become completely outdated. However, the internal management, bureaucracy, and communication with students leave much to be desired. You're very dependent on the luck of the draw with your professors, because the faculty's organization isn't always helpful, and some facilities are outdated. It's a good university, it serves its purpose, but it has many things that need improvement on a daily basis.

Student Services is the office at UIC Barcelona that provides support to students. We are responsible for informing and advising students on issues regarding formalities and extracurricular matters.
We also encourage better links between the student body and university by integrating the students into the university system: providing information on housing and managing student IDs. In addition to this, we promote culture, sports and volunteering as tools for acquiring values and competences.
If you require accommodation during your time at the university, you may choose from student residencies, apartments and rooms that have been especially designed for your needs. The accommodation options are not associated with UIC Barcelona and must be arranged independently: prices, number of places, hours, services, admission, activities, etc.
The main aim of the Sports Service is to promote, encourage and organise, among members of the UIC Barcelona university community, sporting activities that help students' personal development through the values promoted by sport.
As of the 2008-2009 academic year, the University made all study programmes compliant with the regulations established by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), effectively imparting all bachelor and diploma courses as formal degree programmes, and gradually phasing out prior courses of study.
