KFUPM dates back to 1963 when it was founded by royal decree as the College of Petroleum and Minerals (CPM). Back then, the aim was to equip Saudi Arabia’s energy sector with well-trained professionals by offering focused education in those two sought-after disciplines, namely petroleum and minerals.
Since those early beginnings, a new academic identity has taken shape. What started as a niched college evolved steadily into a multi-faceted institution recognized among the best universities for science, engineering and technology in the region. Alongside this strong foundation, KFUPM also became known for integrating research and entrepreneurship into academia.
Within only a few years from the strategy’s launch, KFUPM added 41 master’s degrees, 8 undergraduate departments, and 42 specialized undergraduate concentrations, each designed to meet emerging trends in science, engineering, technology, and business.

it was good overall and a very satisying to go through
It�s a very strong public (government) university with various colleges and majors. I�m majoring Mechanical Engineering. College of engineering�s program is 5 years program which it is divided by first year is foundation year, second is general engineering year, and 3 years in majoring. I�m in my 4th year.
Kfum deliver High quality education but it has very tough grading system keeping you in continuous strugle for grades. Also the life here is quite and limited. There is no such type of Entertainment as compared to other universities. But if you want high quality education i highly recommend honestly.

Undergraduate students can apply for housing through the university’s online system using the link sent via SMS before arrival. Graduate students may also apply for on-campus housing through the General Administration of Student Housing, subject to availability.
A few buildings include both single and double-occupancy rooms with private bathrooms. Room locations are assigned through an electronic lottery system. Students wishing to change rooms or roommates can do so during the open transfer period at the beginning of each semester. A total fee of 600 SAR per semester is deducted in four monthly installments of 150 SAR. For scholarship students, housing costs are fully covered.
