About

History

In the postwar era of development and innovation, the then New South Wales University of Technology established a division in Wollongong to train the engineers and metallurgists of the local steel industry. That institution grew and evolved, and in 1975 legislation was passed in the parliament of New South Wales, establishing the University of Wollongong as an independent institution.

To confront the challenges of a rapidly changing world, UOW research is focused on supporting the best intellectual and technical talent to force change for good. From next-gen materials engineering in medicine to social transformation over the lifecycle, our research is purposeful and positive.

Career

The Careers Consultant at the Bega campus is able to assist students in a range of ways. In particular, for students still studying at university it is possible to improve future prospects by establishing career goals and enhancing employability skills. Students are able to access the Careers Consultancy service for individual appointments to discuss tactics to create short-term and long-term career goals, manage aspects of a professional career via portfolio development, resume and formal application review, or to prepare for a personal job interview.

UOW, Australia experience
Anonymous rated 4 out of 5 stars

Since I have not been able to travel due to covid-19, my experience studying online has been fairly great. My school has been very supportive in providing resources to help my studies somewhat normal. The lecturers are hands on and supportive as well and one on one consultations with them have been helpful.

So many people say they’ve heard good things about my degree and it has honestly exceeded all my expectations going into uni. All the lecturers and tutors are so passionate and I feel so lucky to be able to learn so much from them. The classes are usually quite small (there’s maybe only 30-40 people in my degree) which makes workshopping groups intimate and develops a lot...
