Overview

The degree offered by University of Wollongong extends the course learning outcomes of the Master of Education, in a two year programme.

The Master of Education Extension (TESOL) offers candidates the opportunity to specialise in either TESOL, or Educational Leadership, introducing them to the contemporary trends and issues in research, theory and practice.

You will also benefit from flexible study options, allowing you to study online or in the classroom.

During this major you will study key theories and research of ESL/EFL teaching and supplement them with an in depth understanding of areas such as second language learning, pedagogical grammar, practical phonology/pronunciation, assessment and, evaluation, and technology-based language teaching.

Having developed the skills necessary to investigate and solve complex issues, you will then utilise these in an individualised research project that ties in with your work, interests, and study specialisation.

You can also choose to do a supervised professional experience placement in an ESL or EFL classroom. Choose between flexible study or on campus classes.
