MetFilm School is a leading film, television, and online media school offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses across various craft areas.The School has campuses in London within the famous Ealing Studios and Garden Studios, in Berlin at Atelier Gardens, and in Leeds at Prime Studios.

About

History

Following one and two-day courses in Picturehouse Cinemas, MetFilm School launched our first Eight Week course in 2003. Here’s a couple highlights since then:

  • 2005: MetFilm School London moves into Ealing Studios
  • 2009: BA Practical Filmmaking launches
  • 2012: MetFilm School Berlin opens!
  • 2021: MetFilm School opens a second London campus in Garden Studios
  • 2022: MetFilm School Leeds opens!

Since its launch in 2003, MetFilm has been committed to educational excellence and deep links into the industry. 

The mission is to inspire a new generation of creative screen professionals, educating them in the new world of storytelling across multiple devices.

By putting industry at the heart of everything we do, MetFilm School best equips its graduates for successful careers.

MetFilm School students are taught by award-winning professionals. On our courses, you learn by doing: participating in workshops, working within the industry, and turning your knowledge into practical experience.

The School is assessed and recognised by leading bodies such as CILECT, QAA, and Creative Skillset.

Housing services

MetFilm School does not offer accommodation, since our campuses are based in working film studios. However, we work with accommodation partners to share as much information as we can, including covering a range of price and living options.

Library services

In 2022, we opened our Learning Space. Based in London, the Space exists as a digital resource centre for students in Berlin and Leeds.

Students also have access to a range of library catalogues – for example, the Paul Hamlyn Library in London and the Deutsche Kinemathek Library in Berlin.

Students in London & Leeds also receive free access to BFI Player. Berlin students receive free access to MUBI.

Student Life

Campus life

MetFilm School has three campuses, based in London, Berlin, and Leeds.

In London, our main campus is within Ealing Studios, and includes Edit and Sound Suites, a Sound Stage, teaching spaces, a Learning Space, and the Grindhouse Café. In 2021, we partnered with Garden Studios, for additional teaching space and opportunities.

In Berlin, our campus is based within Atelier Gardens (previously BUFA Studios), and includes Edit and Sound Suites, a student kitchen, teaching spaces, and a sound stage.

In Leeds, our campus is based within Prime Studios – with facilities including sound stages, acting workshops, teaching spaces, a student area, and more.

Student clubs

While enrolled at MetFilm School, students have access to all extracurricular activities run by the University of West London (and Leeds University for Leeds students).

MetFilm School also runs a yearly election for our Student Senate, which includes a Student President, 3x Campus Vice Presidents, a Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Officer, and a Green Officer.

Accreditation

All MetFilm School undergraduate and postgraduate courses are validated by the University of West London.
