Overview

Each student of the Mechanical Engineering program of The University of Akron is paired with a faculty adviser whose activities parallel his or her own interests, and together they design an individualized program of study. Course requirements are therefore based on personal goals, while also providing coherent, in-depth study of a particular area of mechanical engineering.

The non-thesis option is also available as an evening-only program, which allows students to complete their degree part-time, and at their convenience. This program is ideally suited for students or professionals who have a day job and can attend classes in the evenings.
