Overview
At Law and Bioethics from University of Pittsburg students typically begin to blend work in bioethics into the law curriculum during their second year of study, though in rare instances may, in consultation with program advisors, take one of the core courses of the Bioethics Program during their first year of study.
Careers
Graduates will be academically prepared for professional roles as bioethicists in health care institutions, in public policy working for government or philanthropic organizations, or in the practice of law, for example, giving counsel to health care institutions.

General requirements
- Students wishing to enroll in the joint degree program must first be admitted to each of the individual programs.
- Online application form.
- $75 application fee
- Digital scans of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Official transcripts are not required during the application process.
- Three letters of recommendation. The most informative letters of recommendation comment on the applicant’s critical reasoning ability and writing skills.
- A personal statement of reasons for entering the program and goals for study within it.
- A writing sample, preferably a paper that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to construct an argument in support of a claim related to a topic in bioethics, ethics, philosophy, or some other field of the humanities.
- The Dietrich School will accept the Duolingo English Test as an alternative to TOEFL and IELTS from international student applicants.
