Programme Structure

Master of Science 180 credit

These options are for students who want to pursue postgraduate study and research in a specific field. The 240 credit option may allow for a more extensive research project than the 180 credit master programme.

Master of Science 120 credit

The Master of Science (by thesis only) is a 120 credit qualification for students who have completed the BSc (Hons) or PGDipSc. It consists of a thesis to the value of 120 credits.

General Requirements

Admission to the Degree of Master of Science requires that the candidate will have:

  • been awarded or qualified for the Bachelor of Science with a major in the intended postgraduate subject, or an equivalent qualification; and
  • achieved a B grade average over the 300-level majoring courses of the qualification(s) considered for admission, or equivalent;
or will have:
  • been awarded or qualified for either the Bachelor of Science with Honours or the Postgraduate Diploma in Science in the intended MSc subject, having achieved a B grade average over the contributing courses.
