- The Geospatial Information Science and Engineering Program at the SUNY - College of Environmental Science and Forestry prerequisite or co-requisite courses include at least one year of physics and one engineering science course in surveying, numerical methods, or computer science.
Accreditation
Assistantships and FellowshipsAssistantships and fellowships are awarded to students who have demonstrated scholarship and academic promise, and whose education and experience enable them to assist in the teaching mission of the college through laboratory or classroom instruction and research. Students who hold an assistantship must be enrolled for full-time study as defined by graduate policies, and be making satisfactory progress toward completing their degree.Major funding for graduate students comes from two major sources:
- State University of New York Graduate Assistantships in support of the teaching mission of the college (a.k.a. GAs – otherwise known as “TAs”); and
Programme Structure
- Program mastery courses beyond the departmental requirement include at least one course (3+ credit hours) in each of these areas of competence: 1) Remote Sensing; 2) Geographic Information Systems; 3) Spatial Analysis and Programming; 4) Statistics.
- Students in the MPS program will take additional coursework in at least one of these areas, MS students will take additional coursework in at least two areas, and Ph.D. students will take additional coursework in at least three of these areas.
