It is a non-traditional graduate program that allows the returning student to take classes in their own individualized course of study in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The extension of liberal studies to the graduate level is a relatively new venture in higher education. In contrast to traditional subject-specific graduate programs, the interdisciplinary approach of the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, cuts across the arbitrary boundaries of specialization, drawing upon a broad range of knowlege to provide a clearer focus on the complex problems.

At the University of Miami, the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program is a non-traditional graduate program that allows the returning student to take classes in their own individualized course of studyin the College of Arts and Sciences. The program is taught by tenured professors and renowned scholars from the graduate faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences in our quaint private university setting that is nestled in beautfiul Coral Gables.

Mission

The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Program opens the door to new ways of thinking. Increasingly, one of the central problems in the business and professional world is how to handle new information, what to do with it, how to use it, how to understand its rhythms and patterns, how to make it make sense.
