Overview

Full-time students are required to register for a minimum of twelve (12) units every quarter, eight (8) of which must be graduate-level mathematics courses taken for a letter grade only.

The remaining four (4) units can be approved upper-division or graduate-level courses in mathematics-related subjects (MATH 500 may not be used to satisfy any part of this requirement).

Full-time M.A. students are permitted seven (7) quarters in which to complete all requirements. While there are no written time limits for part-time students, the Department has the right to intervene and set individual deadlines if it becomes necessary.

Unofficial transcripts (official transcripts are only required if admitted into the program)
List of mathematics courses taken/projected as well as textbooks used
Exactly 3 letters of recommendation
GRE General Test scores

TOEFL or IELTS test scores (for international applicants from non-English speaking countries)
Must hold a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or from a recognized university-level academic institution abroad and at least a B average (3.0 GPA) or its equivalent by the time they enroll
