The Psychology (Industrial and Organizational Psychology) at Kansas State University is directed at working human resource professionals and aims at teaching students to apply analytical behavioral science skill and course concepts to company related issues.
Key facts
The program spans 2 1/2 years and consists of eight courses in such areas as performance appraisal, training and program evaluation, job analysis and selection, organizational topics, ethical and legal issues, and applied research methods. The last semester of the program consists of students conducting a research practicum in their own organization under the supervision of faculty.

General requirements
- Two years of human resource managerial or supervisory experience
- Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field, or successful completion of psychology and statistics courses
- GRE recommended if your GPA is less than 3.0 in the final two years (last 60 credits) of undergraduate work
- Statement of objectives: State your academic objectives, giving specific reasons for the selection of your field of study, contemplated research areas and professional plans. Most statements are three to four paragraphs in length. The objectives allow faculty to:
- determine that your expectations of the MIOP program are congruent with what the program provides
- review a sample of your writing skills
- Resume/curriculum vitae
- Three professional and/or academic references, including names and emails
- Unofficial transcripts from each institution attended
- If employed, a short letter of support from your employer
