Overview

Currently, the Animal Sciences and Industry department at Kansas State University has over 800 undergraduate students advised in the department and about 65 graduate students pursuing both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.

Learning outcomes

For graduate training, the department has animal research and teaching units located conveniently to the main campus. Those units include Sheep, Poultry, purebred Beef, Dairy, Swine, and Equine teaching and research units and the beef cattle, stocker, and cow-calf research units. In addition, laboratories in both Call and Weber Halls contain state-of-the-art equipment that allow the student access to most analytical techniques required for their research.

Students applying to the program should have a minimum of a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA or their last 60 hours should be a 3.0/4.0. Animal Science does not require GRE scores as part of the application process, but, if scores are available, submission is recommended because they aid the evaluation process
The statement of objectives should contain academic objectives, contemplated research areas, and professional plans. Generally, the statement of objectives should be several paragraphs in length and contained on a single page. Specific graduate faculty member(s) with whom the applicant desires to work should be noted.
