Overview
Students gain core competencies in statistics and research methods while acquiring hands on experience with a compulsory internship and research capstone.
Students will master topics in genomics, proteomics, neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology, and business management. Students can also choose among electives depending on their interests and career goals.
The goal of this program is for students to gain knowledge and skills in scientific innovation in preparation to enter and excel within the professional science workforce.

General requirements
Entry RequirementsUniversity requirements for admission include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; 3.0 GPA in last 60 hours (90 quarter hours) of undergraduate work.
In addition to meeting the minimum university requirements for graduate study, applicants must have taken undergraduate science courses appropriate to the concentration, or have significant practical background in a relevant science area. A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) is required. Specific courses needed to prepare for entering the program will be identified through interviews with the applicant.
Degree requirements- 36 credit hours of approved graduate work
- Tool of research: analytical courses (see Course Requirements, below)
- One written comprehensive examination
- Capstone Experience: 6 credit hours in 600-level courses as approved by a faculty advisor, with grades of B or better
- Students participate in noncredit workshops and seminars on professional skills and current issues in science and technology. Students are required to demonstrate proficiency in these areas as part of the capstone project, internship, and compulsory presentation.

Funding
Graduate students enrolled at least half time in a Master's or PhD program may be eligible for federal loans and/or federal work study. To apply, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There is no deadline, and the FAFSA will be reviewed on a rolling basis as it is received.
