Overview
Creating a culture of innovation is one of society’s greatest challenges. Innovation creates new opportunities that lead to sustainable economic growth and can help tackle serious societal problems such as climate change or pandemics.
The Innovation Sciences programme at Utrecht University focuses on the dynamics of emerging technologies and innovation. After completing this programme, you will be able to link emerging technologies to human and economic wants and needs, as well as to grand societal challenges.
Particularly, around energy, sustainable transport, and life sciences. How does innovation contribute to economic growth, welfare, health care, climate change, energy security, mobility and sustainability?
Careers
Experience shows that employers are in great need of people who are able to analyse complex innovation processes and systems and develop strategies, advice, and action plans to further improve these systems and processes.
Given the increasing importance of innovation for societal wellbeing and welfare caused by major societal problems in, for instance, sustainability, transport, health, and the growing economic competition from BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), this need will even grow further in the future.
What employers value most in Innovation Sciences graduates is their ability to understand and analyse new problems very rapidly and in an academic and multidisciplinary way.
