Utrecht city life
Utrecht is a charming city with a warm atmosphere. Its canals provide many opportunities for students to spend their evenings and weekends. Alongside the canals, there are areas with terraces and restaurants, while other sections were designed just for long and pleasant walks.
Built around the Dome Tower, Utrecht is a practical city that will help you never get lost. The church that includes the tower is located in the city centre. While walking on the streets, you will discover plenty of museums. Among them, there are the Aboriginal Art Museum, Centraal Museum, Duitse Huis, National Museum “From musical clock to street organ”, Railroad Museum and many others.
Theatre Kikker and Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, and TivoliVredenburg, Tivoli De Helling, ACU, EKKO, DBs and RASA are the theatres and music venues where you can enjoy a relaxing evening. Also, some annual major events are held in the city, such as Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, Trance Energy, Summer Darkness with goth music, Le Guess Who? And Festival a/d Werf.
A city with a medieval architecture centre could not have missed castles. Some of the impressive are Castle De Haar and City Castle Oudaen. Stadium Niew Galgenwaard is the spot where F.C. Utrecht, the city’s football team plays. Locals also enjoy field hockey, soccer, cricket or tennis.
International atmosphere in Utrecht
The city is visited by international students who seek English universities in Europe. The Dutch speaking locals are fond of their touristic sites and buildings and proudly present them to the visitors. Locals are open to conversations and, usually, spend their free times in some of the pubs preferred by tourists.
Even though Utrecht is a hotspot on the map of Netherlands, the city centre is mostly inhabited by locals.

Utrecht has a balanced weather that is based on the four seasons. While summers are dry and warm, winters are cold and sometimes they bring snowfall. Average temperatures are around 5.6°C (42.1°F) in January and 22.8°C (73°F).
