Overview
Nursing and Healthcare Leadership from University of Pennsylvania program develops leaders who are equipped to improve healthcare delivery by applying knowledge of systems thinking, quality improvement, population health, emerging technologies, and value-based care delivery models.
Key facts
Focused on strong leadership development, the Nursing and Healthcare Leadership Program prepares graduates for various leadership roles, including but not limited to Clinical Directors, Nurse Managers, Healthcare Consultants, and Quality/Safety and Professional Development Specialists. Through synchronous online sessions, students engage with industry leaders and faculty experts. Faculty regularly provide unparalleled individual academic advising to align students’ programs of study with their career goals. By fostering dynamic leadership development, graduates are prepared to respond to current healthcare challenges and anticipate and shape the future of healthcare delivery.
Students engage with expert faculty, alumni, and leaders in the field to develop a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare industry. Graduates typically pursue leadership roles in healthcare operations management, consulting, project management, and quality improvement/patient safety.
Since our program includes an elective students can acquire additional acumen in various leadership areas i.e., patient safety/quality improvement, academic teaching/professional development, or concurrently pursue other master’s degrees i.e., Health Quality and Safety, Public Health, or Health Law. Culminating with capstone experiences often in their work place, students apply leadership skills gained in their coursework to complete an organizational project. For those interested in healthcare consulting, we also sponsor an internship at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
