Artificial Intelligence Engineering (Robotics) from Arizona State University combines advanced study in applied AI with robotics engineering.

This program enables students not only to develop their core expertise in robotics and industrial automation, digital twins, data informatics and applications of generative AI and LLMs in robotics and industrial automation, but also to enhance their data science skills through interdisciplinary courses offered within and beyond engineering.

A core curriculum in robotics, articulated robots, aerial robots, human-robot teaming, robot learning, AI engineering foundations, AI systems and tools, AI ethics and social responsibility, and data collection and evaluation for AI systems is complemented by robotics engineering-specific courses to ensure breadth and depth in AI and in robotics engineering. The main data science elements consist of data processing, data visualization, data mining and machine learning. Machine learning and deep learning, as well as their applications in robotics, are included to highlight the industrial use cases of data and AI.

Robotics engineers with a background in AI can pursue opportunities in a variety of fields to develop, customize and apply AI systems and tools while taking ethical and societal considerations into account. These skills can be applied to industries including:

Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in computing, engineering, mathematics, statistics, operations research, information technology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
