The Master of Science degree program in nursing provides a broad clinical and classroom-based education with a strong emphasis on patient-centered practice.

By entering our graduate program in Nursing (Graduate Entry to Nursing MS) at The Ohio State University, you will become a part of one of the nation’s premier research universities. The Graduate Entry option provides an opportunity for students with a baccalaureate degree in a major other than nursing, and who are not already licensed as a Registered Nurse, to earn a Master of Science in nursing. This program is not offered online. Graduates of the program are eligible for certification as a:

Nurse Midwife
Nurse Practitioner in a variety of different specialties.

Completed a bachelor’s degree

Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale in the last degree earned that is relevant to the program of study

You must complete a course in each of the following five areas:

Human Anatomy - Must include a lab, all body systems, three (3) semester credits or five (5) quarter credits
Human Physiology - All body systems, three (3) semester credits or five (5) quarter credits
Human Nutrition - Throughout the lifecycle, including sociophysiological factors, three (3) semester credits or five (5) quarter credits
Microbiology - Must include a lab, microorganisms and their interaction with the human experience, three (3) semester credits or five (5) quarter credits
- Pharmacology - All body systems, drug classifications and their therapeutic uses, drug action, two (2) semester credits or three (3) quarter credits
