Art of Teaching - Alternate Route from William Carey University, students become familiar with education terminology, state standards, planning effective lessons, and strategies for assessing student progress, managing a classroom, and meeting the needs of diverse learners.
During the internship portion of the program novice teachers benefit from an onsite mentor and a supervisor from the William Carey School of Education.
Upon meeting all admission requirements, taking and passing the three initial courses, and completing the two trimesters of internship, students may choose to complete the MAT in one of three tracks-Elementary Education (Grades 4-6), Secondary Education (Specific Discipline 7-12), or Special Education (Mild/Moderate Disabilities).

General requirements
- Complete an application for admissions and pay application fee.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A candidate for a baccalaureate degree at William Carey may apply for early admission to the graduate program and may enroll for graduate credit in courses not required for completion of the baccalaureate degree provided that the student is within six hours of meeting degree requirements and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- IELTS must meet the minimum requirement score of 5.5.
