Overview

The on-campus M.Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering is an applied programme delivered by Cornell University, with coursework and projects designed to increase problem-solving skills. It is designed specifically for students who wish to further their studies or upgrade their skills, with the intent of going into industry.

Our M.Eng. program in mechanical engineering allows you to study the things you want to learn more about. Working with an advisor, you determine a focus, you choose your classes, and you help shape your M.Eng. project. We have been teaching mechanical engineering for more than 150 years and we have gotten pretty good at it.

We work with you to define your goals and build a program to attain them. Our faculty research and our project partners represent a broad swath of topics and specialties in the field of mechanical engineering and your course choices can take full advantage of this breadth.

You will work with your advisor to determine a focus for your program. Your focus area is usually built around one of our concentration areas – but is not restricted by them.

Technical courses are taken to add depth (or breadth); building the knowledge needed to advance in your chosen area. Engineering tool courses are taken to provide skills for specific applications. Professional development courses are taken to enhance leadership skills, learn systems engineering, or gain exposure to entrepreneurship, to name a few of the many choices.
