Landscape architects create outdoor spaces like parks and city squares that provide everyone the opportunity to connect and interact with their community. They work to ameliorate the negative effects of climate change while listening to the needs of community members and ensure that every voice is heard.

They use their expertise to design public spaces that are accessible to people of all ages, incomes, and abilities. When landscape architects are involved in the creation of public spaces, they help bring communities together.

Features

Faculty encourage students to think critically and creatively in addressing issues related to climate change and human use of the environment. Through multi-disciplinary service-learning opportunities, they train students to listen to the needs of community members and ensure that every voice is heard.

The Landscape Architecture program at the University of Oklahoma seeks to imbue students with strong design development and communication skills within the framework of climate change adaptation, resilience, and community engagement.
