The online Humanitarian Action MS-HA program at the University of San Diego trains students to assess humanitarian needs, manage the complex landscape of local, national, and international actors; and design and evaluate innovative solutions to humanitarian crises.

The MS-HA program aims to deliver core knowledge and competencies recognized by employers in the field as critical to the success of humanitarian aid workers.

MS-HA graduates make global impact through careers in public and private sectors, as well as intergovernmental organizations and nonprofits. Graduates work in areas of international development, humanitarian aid, human rights, environmental policy and peace and security, and in fields including policy advising, advocacy and research, conflict resolution, community outreach, trauma recovery, refugee support, fundraising and more. Our students and alumni stand out for their capacity to analyze the root causes of violence, oppression and injustice, and apply impactful peacebuilding and humanitarian action strategies to address them.

Applicants must have a 3.0 (on 4.00 scale) average in all undergraduate coursework. Candidates with a GPA under 3.00 will be asked to provide an explanation of low performance in an essay. Candidates with GPA under 3.00 are also recommended to complete a standardized test such as GRE or GMAT. If you earned a degree from an institution outside the United States, you are required to submit an official international transcript evaluation (also called a foreign credential evaluation) as part of your application. Please note that the evaluation must be a course-by-course evaluation. You must order your official course-by-course evaluation from one of the following evaluation services.
