The Master's in Public Administration at VU Amsterdam trains the next generation of ambitious public administration students.
The Master's in Public Administration at VU Amsterdam has five tracks, four in Dutch and one in English. Each takes a different substantive focus. Our English programme focuses on a topic of high societal relevance: Artificial Intelligence and Governance. This programme is taught fully in English.
Career
- Digitalisation and the rise of AI is redefining traditional job profiles. The IMF calculates that, in developed economies, up to sixty percent of jobs may be affected by AI. This programme equips you with the skills needed to operate in this new algorithmic governance context. On a par with governance know-how, we build your data literacy, familiarity with innovative computational techniques, and critical engagement with data.

General requirements
- Direct admission requires 12 ECTS in public administration and 12 ECTS in social science research methods, including 6 ECTS in quantitative methods/statistics.
- Bachelor's degree must be equivalent to a Dutch academic (WO) bachelor obtained from a research university.
- Conditional admission may be granted if the bachelor's or master's degree is in a field other than public administration.
- Conditional admission may require completing a bridging program (premaster) of up to 30 ECTS.
- Bridging program content and scope will be determined based on individual admission requests.
- Proficiency in English is required, and English test results can be submitted after starting the application.
