The city is already famous for its museums, among which there are Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum from the Museumplein (Museum Plaza). After enjoying culture, you may visit Jordaan neighbourhood, an area with narrow streets, arts galleries and antiques shops.

Canal cruises are also popular, as well as Anne Frank’s house and enjoying samples of the local cuisine, such as the herring sandwich. The Nine Streets are the hotspots of vintage shops and stores.

Nightlife in Amsterdam is active and it brings the young locals and visitors to bars, clubs, pubs, cafes, even in a former train depot or a yacht.

International atmosphere in Amsterdam

Amsterdam holds a population of over 30% foreigners, such as Turks, Italians, Spanish, Surinamese, Europeans and many others. It is said that you might even spend a year in the city, without having to make local friends or learning their language.

The saying “Live and let live” applies to inhabitants of Amsterdam, who are tolerant to all races, religions and cultures. Locals are warm and friendly and enjoy conversations with foreigners. You will also meet a large number of international students who will ease your way to graduation.
