English is offered by McNeese State University. With in-depth course instruction in literary criticism, critical theory, western literature, genre studies and women in literature, our master’s degree in English builds on undergraduate foundations to prepare you for a doctoral degree, teaching at the high school or college level, or a number of other advanced language and communication-based careers.

Courses are offered on campus in the evenings to accommodate working professionals, and our coursework is crafted to enable you to venture into specific areas of interest. Our special-topics courses include the study of play-to-film adaptations, contemporary drama, graphic novels, directed research in science fiction and other genres. As a student in the English master’s degree program, you may also receive a graduate assistantship and have the opportunity to teach entry-level English classes at McNeese.

General requirements

Pay a nonrefundable $30 application fee after you receive notification that your application has been processed.

Have your transcripts and/or diplomas sent to McNeese directly from all universities or colleges previously attended. The Office of International Programs will calculate your GPA.

If you have attended an institution outside of the U.S., submit an Evaluation of Foreign Credentials directly from the evaluation service to McNeese.

Submit your official TOEFL (Code 6403) or IELTS score to McNeese. If you have attended at least two semesters of another U.S. university or college, this is not required.

Have your GRE or GMAT scores sent to McNeese directly from the testing agency.

Email a copy of your passport to the Office of International Programs: internationaloffice@mcneese.edu.

Submit a signed affidavit and bank letter from your sponsor.
