Overview

The General Family and Consumer Sciences program is administered through University of Tennessee Martin Online and is totally online to facilitate the needs of professionals to pursue an advanced degree from wherever they are located.

Overview

This concentration is generalist in nature and based on a selected range of comprehensive courses.

This concentration can also provide specific endorsements for teachers and other who already hold a bachelor's degree in family and consumer sciences education.

Students who hold a B.S. degree in Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences Education may add occupational endorsements to their existing certificates while pursuing the general concentration for the master’s degree. The supporting courses within the concentration should consist of courses in family and consumer sciences education which are required as work experiences for the endorsements.

For non-thesis option, student will write a narrative, comprehensive exam covering major areas studied. Questions will be submitted by all members of student’s graduate committee. A final oral examination may be required by the graduate committee.
