The Counseling Psychology Master is offered by Washington Adventist University. The School of Graduate and Professional Studies, in conjunction with WAU’s Department of Psychology & Counseling, offers two Master of Arts degree programs, one in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the other in counseling psychology ( L.C.P.C. or L.C.A.D.C. track programs).

The Masters of Arts degree in counseling psychology prepares the student to function as a counselor under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Admissions to the Master of Arts degree program requires that a student have a bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field (social work, mental health, et.) Applicants who do not meet the minimum 2.75 GPA requirement, but whose grade-point averages fall between 2.60 and 2.74, must also submit GRE scores of at least 150 on the subject area Psychology examination in order to be considered for admission.Students who possess a bachelor’s degree but in an unrelated area will be required to complete nine hours of upper-division psychology courses with “B” or better before being admitted to the Master of Arts program. It is recommended that the students select from the following undergraduate psychology courses: Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Psychological Testing, Theories of Personality and Abnormal Psychology.

GPA of 2.75 or higher from a regionally accredited undergraduate program. Applicants with less than a 2.75 GPA but with acceptable evidence of professional potential, shown through recent academic performance and experiential background, may be granted probationary admissions.

Two letters of recommendation.

Completed prerequisite courses with B grade or better in Economics (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, or a combination course)

Statement of purpose describing career goals in health care administration.

Possible interview.
