The artist string faculty members at UNM pride themselves on being highly regarded and sought after performers both nationally and internationally.

The University of New Mexico's Performance - Strings faculty provides excellent individualized instruction to all students, regardless of major.

Key Features

UNM string students can choose from instrumental performance, string pedagogy or music education degree programs. Very accomplished non-majors, who participate in UNM Orchestra, are also offered private instruction by our string faculty. Many music students at UNM are awarded competitive scholarships and assistantship positions.
The Department of Music at The University of New Mexico is highly engaged with the Albuquerque Arts community. This engagement goes far beyond the hundreds of concerts and musical events it hosts annually.

Submit a statement of your experiences and goals and why you want to be a student at UNM. The Letter of Intent must be in prose, not resume style.
CV/Resume. Not all concentrations or assistantship applications require a resume. Please check the Department of Music website for information about whether you need to submit one. Please do NOT fill out the information below about your experience, awards, publications and skills; the resume document is sufficient and is preferred.
Three (3) letters of recommendation are required through the online application system. Please do NOT have your recommenders submit their letters offline, as this will delay the application process.
