Overview
The Educational Leadership program is offered by Cameron University.Students must complete one year of teaching in an accredited classroom prior to program admission.
Cameron's program offers a progressive educational experience, which combines classroom instruction and research with field-based learning experiences. The program will prepare students to be strong educational leaders and increase their capacity to cultivate leadership in others. Students will join a diverse cohort of peers and learn from scholars, active and veteran school administrators as they explore what it means to be a leader in the field.Candidate understands and demonstrates the capacity to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments necessary to collaboratively lead, design, and implement a school mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities that include data use, technology, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community. (NELP Standard 1)
Candidates understand and demonstrate the capacity to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments necessary to understand and demonstrate the capacity to advocate for ethical decisions and cultivate and enact professional norms. Candidates understand and demonstrate the capacity to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments necessary to evaluate, develop, and implement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, supports, and assessment. (NELP Standard 4).
Candidates understand and demonstrate the capacity to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments necessary to engage families, community, and school personnel in order to strengthen student learning, support school improvement, and advocate for the needs of their school and community (NELP Standard 5).
Candidates understand and demonstrate the capacity to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments necessary to improve management, communication, technology, school-level governance, and operation systems to develop and improve data-informed and equitable school resource plans and to apply laws, policies, and regulations. (NELP Standard 6).

General requirements
- Students who wish to pursue the MSEL should follow these procedures:
- apply and be admitted to graduate studies at Cameron University;
- provide evidence of one year of teaching experience as a certified teacher;
- develop a formal Plan of Graduate Study with the assistance of the graduate advisor;
- have two (2) acceptable recommendation forms submitted on their behalf
- have a GPA of 3.0 or above
