Why study Educational Leadership at Washburn?
Our Educational Leadership program, Washburn University, is designed to meet you where you are and get you to your goal of building or district-level leadership. We understand the demands of the teaching profession and have designed this fully online program with that in mind. Your cohort members will be working educators, too.This is the right program for you if:- Want to study online and progress as your schedule allows
- You are a classroom teacher who desires to move to building-level administration.
- You are a building-level administrator who wants to lead at the district level.
- You have a master’s of education in another specialization and you want to take this leap to school or district leadership. Applicants to this program must have a valid teaching license and at least five years of experience in the profession. Our advising team can help you design a plan.
Online advantage
All courses in the Educational Leadership program are offered online and can be taken at your own pace. Most students take 9 to 18 credits per year, finishing the 30-credit program in 2 to 3 years. Start dates are offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall of each year so you can get started right awayProgramme Structure

- A completed Washburn University application for graduate study in the Department of Education
- An earned Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Official transcript(s)
- An overall GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of course work (per official transcripts)*
- A signed Department of Education Professional Conduct and Dispositions form
- Two references indicating the candidates’ potential to complete a graduate program.
- A copy of the candidates’ current teaching license (if applicable).
