Overview
The Biomedical Sciences programme at High Point University offers a rigorous academic framework for students aiming to excel in healthcare research and clinical practice. This comprehensive curriculum integrates advanced biological sciences with practical laboratory techniques to prepare graduates for professional school and industry leadership.
Each student follows a cohort model that spans three terms, starting in the summer and concluding the following spring. The structure is designed to foster academic maturity through small class sizes and personalised mentorship from expert faculty. This supportive environment ensures that learners develop the critical thinking and communication skills required in modern medicine.
Why Biomedical Sciences at High Point University?
High Point University provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a human gross anatomy lab, a zebrafish laboratory, and a center for medical simulation. These resources allow students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The institution is recognised for its focus on life skills and professional development.
The programme offers three specialised tracks: Clinical Training, Research Development, and Internship. Students in the clinical pathway can earn EMT certification and complete over 200 hours of clinical rotations. Those focused on research master experimental design and data collection, making them highly competitive for doctoral programmes and industrial roles.
Individualised mentoring is a cornerstone of the experience, with dedicated faculty advisors assisting with professional school applications. The university’s partnership with local healthcare providers and industry leaders in the region provides invaluable networking opportunities. This collaborative environment prepares students to navigate the integrated landscape of modern science.
