Overview

You will learn to combine critical business theories and expertise with innovative hospitality leadership practices. Curriculum of Hospitality Management degree at Lamar University is designed to help you develop vital skills in various business specializations, such as strategic branding and marketing, human resource management, and basic business functionality.

Coursework includes an understanding of how to conduct data analysis in hospitality and tourism, financial analysis and financial statements, and the planning and control functions of budgets. You will study ethics and diversity to enrich diversity leadership competency through practical application. You will examine the development and current interpretations of common law, tort law and administrative law, as well as legal implications for the hospitality industry.

Additionally, you will study organizational processes using social methodologies, such as motivation, to better understand group behavior and improve operational dynamics in the service industry with an emphasis on the Systems Model, TQM and Transactional Leadership to direct all managerial functions. There is a capstone project included with this hospitality leadership program, in which you complete one of three masters' experiences: conduct and report study results from a proposal; create, conduct and report outcomes of a hospitality field project; or participate in a hospitality management internship.
