Overview

The M.Ed. in Elementary Education program at Valdosta State University is fully online. Candidates will gain a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, research, and dominant theories of early childhood education to support effective teaching of young children. The program also builds a strong link to classroom instruction and implementation of knowledge and skills in elementary school settings.

Candidates will master the knowledge and skills appropriate to the areas of research, learning, educational assessment, ethics, and law. Using this knowledge of young children, candidates will develop learning environments which address the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and cultural needs of young children. In addition, candidates will develop and implement formal and informal assessment procedures to assess child development and learning, educational environments, and curricula for elementary education.
