Overview

The didactic track and teaching practicum are mainly intended to prepare the candidate for a full-time career in dental academia. However, each track may have overlapping features in terms of purpose.

Clinical education is provided under a two-year residency program leading to a clinical certificate upon completion of both years one and two. Didactic education is provided under the two-year graduate program leading to a Master's in Education. The final year of the General Dentist Educator program from University of the Pacific will consist of completing the thesis project if not completed in the previous year, and teaching practicum in didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical education.

The International General Dentist Educator program directly supports the mission of University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry's unit in global dental education:

To educate future leaders in dental education so they can lead in an effective manner in promoting and advocating the highest professional standards and humanistic values.

An interview is required for acceptance into the program and will be granted only upon application completion and at the request of the associate dean for Student Services.
