About the program

The Master of Arts in French and Italian at The Ohio State University gives students who are looking to complete and M.A. degree advanced skills in research, critical thinking, and pedagogy.

In conjunction with the graduate adviser, students plan a program of study that builds upon their undergraduate education and allows them to develop a comprehensive understanding of important developments in French and Francophone or Italian studies.

Department faculty are committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching, and in conjunction with the advisor, students take two courses outside of their specialization during the course of the M.A.

A baccalaureate or professional degree (or equivalent foreign credential) from an accredited college or university.
Statement of intent (1 to 2 pages)
Curriculum vitae or resume (1 to 2 pages)
Two academic writing sample: one in English and another in French (for the French and Francophone program) or Italian (for the Italian program). These documents should be combined and uploaded as a single file.
Three letters of recommendation. Recommenders will be automatically contacted with a link to submit their letters when you submit your application.
