General requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with at least 38 semester hours of undergraduate Spanish above the freshman level (international students holding undergraduate degrees in an area other than language studies may submit their transcript for equivalency corroboration).
- Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination are required for all domestic applicants. International students must have acceptable scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- At least 30 semester hours including 4 thesis credit hours
- Successful completion of comprehensive examinations
- A reading knowledge of one other foreign language (this knowledge may be demonstrated by examination or by completion of the first-year sequence (or the equivalent) of a foreign language with a grade of B or better)
