Upon receiving your graduate degree in The Secondary Education - Mathematics at Missouri State University, you may pursue a career teaching mathematics at the secondary or college level, working for the federal government, or pursuing a career in statistics, applied mathematics or in research.

Learning outcomes for the mathematics education graduate program

Students will have an in-depth understanding of at least one subfield of mathematics (applied math, analysis, algebra, or statistics).
Students will have experience in math research, writing, and presentation, either by completion of thesis or at least two seminars.

General requirements

Received an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Hold certification to teach secondary education. Students in education-related occupations or professions other than secondary school teaching which require licensing or certification by state or national boards may be recommended for admission. The student must complete any required prerequisite courses. Such courses do not count toward completion of the degree requirements.
Obtained a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 scale, OR at least a 2.75 grade point average on a 4.00 scale for the last 60 hours of academic course work; OR have a combined score of 290
