Music - Music Theory from Texas Tech University provides its students with a rigorous curriculum, opportunities for music making in a wide variety of contexts, and a supportive, student-centered learning environment.

Learning Goals

Music - Music Theory from Texas Tech University prepares students specifically for doctoral study in music theory, but is often used as a gateway into many other kinds of doctoral programs, as well as other careers post-graduation. Course work is designed to help students become skillful, articulate, expressive musicians; develop their own perspectives as creative artists; develop the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment; and grow in their understanding of music as an art form. The Masters of Music degree in Music Theory requires 30 hours.
