Students will learn to apply principles of information technology and computer science to the analysis of complex computing problems. They will design and create solutions to technical problems using industry-recognized best practices and standards. Most importantly they will gain the ability to analyze user needs in the development and implementation of computing-based solutions and learn to apply these in their career.
Program Goals
Those who earn the Master’s in Information Technology at University of the People will develop the competencies to demonstrate their ability to:
- Apply the principles of information technology, computer science and other disciplines to the analysis of complex computing problems.
- Design and evaluate solutions to complex computing problems using industry-recognized best practices and standards.
- Analyze user needs in the development and implementation of computing-based solutions.
- Assess the ethical considerations in the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of IT systems as it applies to ethical reasoning, social responsibility, global citizenship and civic engagement.
- Construct clear, well-organized arguments supported by credible research-based evidence.
