The educational component of the History program at Indiana University Southeast covers instruction and curriculum, assessment, diversity and inclusive teaching, and research. Learn how to apply the science and art of teaching to college-level instruction.

The history component of the program focuses on the historiographic trends and historical context necessary to properly analyze current events. Gain a depth of knowledge in a variety of historical subjects while learning the most effective methods to teach those subjects to an undergraduate audience. Learn to perform historical research and construct original arguments while assessing the validity of the historical sources you use.

General requirements

Complete online application. A $40 graduate application fee is assessed when applying to the program. If a previous graduate application fee was paid the fee may be waived.

The online application will prompt you for a brief personal statement and will ask you to upload a copy of current teaching license or statement of eligibility, if applicable for your program.

Submit official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work completed at institutions other than an IU school. A 2.5 GPA for all undergraduate course work, 3.0 GPA for all graduate course work is required.
