In as few as 20 months, aspiring SLPs can earn a Master of Science in Communication Disorders online from Emerson College. Speech@Emerson uses the same evidence-based, family-centered curriculum as the on-campus program, which is ranked in the top 20 nationally. Classes are taught online by Emerson faculty, many of whom are practicing SLPs. With multiple start dates per year, students of all backgrounds can start earning their degree when the time is right for them.

Educational Opportunity

Students with all levels of experience in the speech-language pathology (SLP) field can earn a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Emerson College from wherever they live.

The online Speech@Emerson program prepares aspiring SLPs to pursue certification as generalist practitioners who work with people of any age with the full range of communicative challenges.

Speech@Emerson offers the same evidence-based curriculum as the on-campus program, which is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and ranked in the top 20 by U.S.

News & World Report (2018). Both graduate-level and prerequisite courses are taught online by Emerson faculty, many of whom are practicing SLPs.

In addition to participating in online classes, students earn their degree by completing interactive assignments within a virtual campus, in-person immersions at Emerson, and clinical placements at sites approved by Emerson faculty.

The program’s support staff includes field placement specialists who identify local settings where students can apply their clinical skills.

The online program is offered both full time and part time and can be completed in as few as 20 months. Multiple start dates are offered annually, and the admissions committee reviews applications on a rolling basis so aspiring SLPs can start making an immediate impact in their clients’ lives."
