Our unique Immunobiology program at Iowa State University includes diverse faculty expertise and flexible choices for individual specializations within the dynamic field of Immunobiology.

Learning Goals that students in this program are expected to meet include:

Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of scholarly literature in immunobiology.
Form testable hypotheses and articulate research objectives that, when met, will lead to significant contributions to the field of immunobiology.
Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative research via appropriate acquisition, analysis, and reporting of data.
Interpret research results appropriately, integrating them into the existing knowledge in immunobiology.
Clearly and accurately communicate research findings orally and in writing.
Conduct scholarship, in teams or with independence, in ways that consistently demonstrate ethical practice and professionalism.

General requirements

A four-year university degree (the equivalent of a bachelor's degree) is required. Applicants should have an undergraduate or advanced degree in one of the basic or applied sciences.
Typical program disciplines include majors in biochemistry, biology, human medicine, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, psychology, veterinary medicine, or zoology. Appropriate undergraduate coursework includes mathematics, chemistry, physics, and biological sciences.
