Beyond learning how to teach, you’ll discover how to think deeply about teaching and build relationships.
In the Middle and High School Education program at Tufts University, you’ll be paired with a local classroom and mentor teacher in your subject area and grade level of interest. The experience will give you the opportunity to try different teaching strategies and to reflect on the teaching experience while completing the practicum component required for Massachusetts Initial License in Middle and High School Education.
Licenses Available in:
- Grades 5-8 and 8-12: English, History, Political Science/Political Philosophy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics
- Grades 5-8: General Science
- Grades 5-12: Latin and Classical Humanities
- Grades PreK-8 and 5-12: Spanish and German

Programme Structure
- Students typically complete the 10-12 course program over an academic year and two 6-week summer sessions. Eight of the required courses are in education and 2-4 are graduate courses in your chosen academic field.
