All graduate candidates are required to pass an audition/interview or portfolio review/interview process for acceptance into the program.

Key Features

During the intensive two year curriculum, the MFAs receive in-depth training in a variety of practical acting techniques and disciplines, are provided opportunities to connect with professional theatre artists in their field, as well as regularly perform in the departmental season, Summer Rep productions, and the professional resident theatre company productions. During their tenure at FAU, the MFAs receive tuition waivers and are assigned a job within the department.

The Acting program at Florida Atlantic University is dedicated to celebrating and nurturing individuals who aspire to become well-rounded, employable theatre artists. Working within a supportive and creative environment, they challenge the students, through classroom study and the practical application of learned skills, to become the best artists that they can be and they take pride in preparing the grads for careers as working professionals or future academics.

The highly selective MFA program is a two-year, 60 credit terminal degree, consisting of classroom study, practical performance, production experience, teaching opportunities, and the completion of a graduate thesis.

Ten students are accepted into the cohort every other year, ensuring maximized dedication and attention from faculty towards each student's growth as a performer and teaching artist, as well as the creation of an ensemble sense of work and spirit within the cohort.

Official Transcripts: Official Transcripts and/or Official Foreign Credential Evaluations must be received from each college or university attended.

Supporting documentation: Supplemental documents should be uploaded as separate files as part of the online graduate application.

Conduct: A “yes” answer to either of the conduct questions on the online application will require a written explanation. Additional information may be requested when your application is under review. Applications will not be fully processed until all conduct issues are cleared.

Application status: Once your application has been submitted, you can check your application status online to ensure transcripts and test scores have been received.

Residency classification: Your residency classification automatically defaults to non-Florida. After you are admitted, the residency officer will request additional documents by email if needed.
