General requirements
- Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree with a major in an Indo-European language field (for example, German, Slavic, Celtic, Romance languages, Latin, Greek), linguistics (with concentration in historical and comparative linguistics), or anthropology (especially linguistic anthropology)
- In addition, all applicants must provide evidence of basic competence in Classical Latin (normally equivalent to one year of college-level Latin). Applicants who do not have a bachelor's degree in Classics or Latin should, in the personal statement or resume, fully explain the basis for their Latin competence (regular coursework, summer school, etc.).
