Overview
Students gain a foundation in teaching and content knowledge from experts in the field who are actively engaged in the educational research community. Students embed their knowledge throughout the program, empowering them to engage in research through coursework. The culminating experience engages student's research by critically evaluating education research related to an action research problem, applying education concepts and reflecting on practice.
This Secondary Education MEd program from Arizona State University alone does not lead to teacher certification. Students interested in teacher certification should enroll in the concentration that includes the coursework and professional experiences needed to qualify for certification in the state of Arizona.
Career Opportunities
- Students are prepared to start educational careers working with children in grades 6-12 in roles that do not require certification.
