Overview
Welcome to the University of California, Riverside first Master's of Science in Robotics degree program!
Key Facts
Students must complete a research project under the guidance of a faculty member. The project will be approved by a committee of at least two faculty members and requires a presentation and written report.
Students will need to take a comprehensive exam based on the courses in the program.
The program is home to a Bachelor's of Science in Robotics Engineering and the University of California's first Master's of Science in Robotics, where students choose from one of four focus areas: Artificial Intelligence and Perception, Control and Navigation, Embedded Systems, and Mechanical Design.
Career Opportunities in Robotics
Robotics is an exciting, rapidly growing industry with career opportunities in multiple industrial sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, transportation, public safety, environmental monitoring, agriculture, and national defense. In a 2022 trend report (link to report), Automation.com, a subsidiary of the International Society of Automation, notes a “dramatic growth in robotics and artificial intelligence career opportunities” – with a 500 percent increase in open positions on employment site Robots.Jobs in the past 90 days. Additionally, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that from 2016 to 2026, computer and information science jobs will increase by 19 percent, and mechanical engineering jobs by nine percent. Many of these jobs require skills and training in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Programme Structure
